OCC average daily loan volume rises 40.9% for May

The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) has reported a 40.9 per cent year-on-year (YoY) increase in average daily loan value for securities lending trades, generating US$240.6 billion for May.
Total securities lending transactions cleared on the OCC platform for the same month decreased 9.08 per cent YoY to 286,543.
In terms of all futures and options cleared through the organisation, the total volume was up 25.2 per cent YoY to 1.47 billion contracts for May.
OCC also experienced a 25.5 per cent YoY increase in equity options contracts for the month to 803.1 million, and a 32.8 per cent YoY rise in index options contracts to 122.6 million.
ETF options volumes increased 23.3 per cent YoY to 540.5 million, while cleared futures contracts was up by 19.4 per cent YoY to 4.15 million.
