Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) wholly-owned subsidiaries and on-exchange derivatives clearing houses will accept new forms of eligible non-cash collateral.
The entities accepting this non-cash collateral are HKFE Clearing Corporation (HKCC) and The SEHK Options Clearing House (SEOCH).
Effective 2 November 2026, eligible collateral will include Chinese government bonds and policy bank bonds held through Northbound Bond Connect (collectively, eligible Bond Connect securities), as well as offshore bonds issued by the Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China (CMOF bonds).
The expansion aims to provide market participants with a wider array of collateral choices and facilitate more efficient capital utilisation.
CMU OmniClear welcomes the expanded acceptance of eligible Bond Connect securities and CMOF bonds as collateral to meet clearing margin requirements.
CMU OmniClear will continue to work closely with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Íø±¬³Ô¹Ï and Futures Commission (SFC), while building on its cooperation with international central securities depositories and market infrastructures in Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, and other markets around the globe to promote the wider use of Renminbi-denominated assets
