Eurex has launched single-stock futures (SSFs) and single-stock dividend futures (SSDFs) on Japanese equities, which is set to start on 2 November 2026.

The launch marks the exchange's initial expansion of its equity derivatives product suite into the Asia Pacific region.

Through this rollout, Eurex says it becomes the first market infrastructure to offer centrally cleared futures executed on a regulated market for individual Japanese stocks, providing an alternative to bilateral over-the-counter (OTC) swaps.

Transactions will be executed on Eurex’s regulated market and centrally cleared through Eurex Clearing, removing the requirement for an International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) master agreement and reducing bilateral counterparty risk, capital, margin, and compliance costs.

The contracts will be open for trading 21 hours a day from 08:15 SGT / 09:15 JST. SSDFs will be available in JPY, while SSFs will be offered in both Japanese yen and US dollar.

Market participants can trade the products independently or as a pair to replicate total-return strategies.

The phased rollout will begin with 10 Nikkei 225 constituents selected in consultation with clients.

Further expansion phases will follow throughout 2027 to progressively cover the majority of the Nikkei 225 index based on client demand and operational readiness.

Matthias Graulich, head of global products and markets at Eurex, states: “The launch of Japanese single-stock futures and single-stock dividend futures is a milestone for Eurex.

“For the first time, we are extending our proven infrastructure for equity derivatives to Asian underlying assets — giving global market participants a single, deep liquidity pool, as well as the capital efficiency of central clearing.
