Global securities lending revenue reached US$5.64 billion in the third quarter of 2026, marking a 22 per cent increase year-on-year (YoY), according to Equilend Data & Insights.

Propelled by rising valuations across Asian technology equities, average industry loan balances climbed 28 per cent YoY to US$4.67 trillion.

Accelerated capital markets activity and renewed investor interest in Chinese AI-related assets pushed Asia Pacific past North America as the largest regional contributor to global equity lending revenue.

The lender-to-broker market generated US$4.32 billion, up 23 per cent YoY, while broker-to-broker lending rose 19 per cent YoY to US$1.32 billion.

Global equity lender revenue rose 22 per cent from Q3 2025 to US$3.44 billion, driven by demand for Hong Kong-listed technology names.

Asia Pacific lender-to-broker equity revenue nearly doubled, surging 99 per cent YoY to US$1.70 billion, as Hong Kong spearheaded regional growth with US$582 million in revenue

In contrast, North American lender-to-broker equity revenue fell 23 per cent YoY to US$1.31 billion, due to a 45 per cent contraction in average fees compared to a high baseline in Q3 2025 from CoreWeave and Paramount.

In EMEA, lender-to-broker equity revenue climbed 56 per cent YoY to US$397 million, with the UK leading the region at US$75 million.

Fixed income lender revenue demonstrated solid gains, climbing 28 per cent YoY to US$879 million.

Government bond revenue led the asset class with a 34 per cent jump to US$649 million, while corporate bond revenue increased 12 per cent to US$230 million.

North American fixed income was bolstered by the Federal Reserve’s September rate hike, pushing US Treasury lending revenue up 41 per cent YoY to US$402 million and corporate bonds up 21 per cent to US$140 million.

EMEA fixed income activity was supported by government bond lending revenue climbing 24 per cent to US$181 million, while regional corporate debt rose 5 per cent to US$65 million.

Single-stock revenue leaders for Q3 2026 were Pop Mart International Group, Space Exploration Technologies, Quanta Computer, and Wiwynn Corporation, which collectively generated US$366 million, or 8 per cent of global lender-to-broker revenue.
