Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) has welcomed Stoil Topalov as an executive director for securities finance trading.
Based in London, Topalov’s new role will include managing and optimising funding, collateral, and capital to maximise the returns on the capital allocated to the business.
He will be reporting to Michael Manna, managing director, responsible for global securities finance trading at the firm.
According to Manna, Topalov will also “assist BBVA to explore and embrace new technology and solutions, keeping an eye on the future as well as the present”.
Topalov moves to this position following a 12-year tenure at Barclays Investment Bank, where he most recently held the position of director of fixed income trading.
He has also worked within Barclays Corporate & Investment Bank as a trading assistant in the rates flow middle office, as well as an analyst in derivatives balance sheet optimisation.
